Programs of Valley Settlement
Valley Settlement programming centers on school readiness, elementary school achievement, and community engagement for immigrant families. Our focus is immigrant families who are not successfully settled or attached to the community in which they live. By listening to immigrants and responding to their needs along with partners (including local nonprofits, schools, libraries, faith organizations and government agencies) we work to support and empower these families.
Our goal is a community where immigrants belong and are engaged and acting towards the success of their children and themselves.
Valley Settlement’s Early Childhood Education programs serve a population of young children who would otherwise have no preschool experience prior to entering kindergarten, putting them at high risk of poor school achievement. Our programs are based on the philosophy that the family is the child’s first teacher. We build trusting relationships with families and work together to support the healthy development of their children. Our goal is to increase school readiness through child-centered, bilingual programming, rich in language and social emotional development experiences.
